The dead man’s left arm holds three tattoos, and D.C. police hope they will be the key to identifying his body more than two weeks after it was found in the Anacostia River.

Officials released three photos of the tattoos as investigators try to identify the body of a man recovered Aug. 10 in the 1500 block of M Street SE.

Police identified the man as black, 5’3” tall, 122 lbs. and in his mid-to-late 20s. The black-ink tattoos are a “W” and a “D” and a pair of dice surrounded by what police believe are flames.

Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099.
