Christine Ellen Hynde is an American musician who was born on September 7, 1951. She is the Pretenders’ lead singer, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter. She is one of the two surviving founding members of the band, along with drummer Martin Chambers.

Hynde formed the Pretenders in 1978 along with Chambers, James Honeyman-Scott, and Pete Farndon. She has also worked on songs with performers like Frank Sinatra, Cher, and UB40. She released her debut album, Stockholm, in 2014. Hynde, a Pretender who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005, was a member of the band. She took part in Live Aid in 1985.

The singer was born on September 7, 1951, in Akron, Ohio. Chrissie’s parents are Melville Grant Hynde and Dolores Hynde. The vocalist is the daughter of the Yellow Pages manager and off-duty secretary. She graduated from Firestone High School in Akron. The band’s performance space is visited by the main singer.
The singer ignited her interest in Eastern mysticism, vegetarianism, and the hippie counterculture. She pursued her education at Kent State University’s Art School. While still a student, she joins Sat-Sun Mat. In 1973, the songwriter moved to London. After eight months, she resigned from her position at the architecture business.
